Whatta!

August 19, 2006

Last Monday, I went to Macapagal Avenue with my friends. We headed to the seafood market. The marketplace offers the pick of the freshest fishes, shrimps, mussels, crabs etc. While choosing what to buy, there were a number of people who offered to cook for us. They’re employees of the wide array of restaurants adjacent to the seafood market. They’re running after every would-be customer. Telling good things about their respective restaurants just to convince people to come to their place.

After almost thirty minutes in the wet market, the plastic bag I was carrying weighed more than 4 kilograms. Tuna belly, big crabs, large shrimps, and many others.

We decided to go to the nearest restaurant. The good thing about the restaurants there is that customers can have the seafood cooked according to their preference. We had the tuna belly grilled and the big crabs steamed. The large shrimps were turned into delightful tempura. We also had some veggies and a big bowl of steamed rice. It was like a meal for a death convict before his execution.
