October first light

He wakes up at six in the morning. He takes a hot shower to rebel against the cold October first light. He then conditions himself for another long day at the office. He watches all the people he bumps into on his way to work. He tries to think what inspires these people to pursue the things they do. He struggles. He wants to know. He wants to understand. He yearns for enlightenment so that he, too, can get motivated. But the answer is very elusive. Maybe tonight, on his way home, he will finally find it.
